Realtime R&D that leads to developments and innovations on real projects
Unlike other virtual set and production design companies working in news and sports, Lightwell has carved out a distinct niche: the creation and recreation of credible architectural interiors.

This video presents a test sequence of a virtual interior built in Unreal Engine, based on photographic references of the Australian Parliament House in Canberra. Though the project didn’t proceed beyond this phase, it served as a valuable R&D exercise - refining our approach to lighting, spatial fidelity, and architectural realism in real-time environments and broadcast graphics.
This focus has shaped our work on high-profile projects such as the BBC’s Paris Olympics set and the UEFA Women’s Euros 2025 studio - both of which demanded spatial coherence, material authenticity, and a deep understanding of architectural language.

This test sequence helped us develop techniques that now underpin our architectural workflows - especially in projects where the boundary between physical and virtual space must feel seamless. It’s a reminder that even shelved work can leave a lasting impact on future design, and that experimentation is often the quiet engine behind innovation.
